In early 2012, my dear friend, Amy, was heading to Munich for a work trip and asked if I wanted to tag alone. Um…yes please! We spent some time in Munich and took a bike ride past beautiful Swan Lake to Neuschwanstein Castle.
Austria
We took a quick day trip by train from Munich to Salzburg for a walk through the city and past the Museum der Moderne.
Italy
Back in Munich, we took the train to Rome to explore ancient ruins, visit Vatican City, and eat! Rome was magical. Although I am no longer Catholic (or a theist of any kind), standing in places so rich with history was moving and I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the opportunity to be there with my traveling friend.
