As I enter my sixth decade on this amazing planet, I am relentlessly grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the people who have shared them with me. I have jumped at every opportunity my path has presented to me from scuba diving with sharks to flying a Cessna plane solo to getting my motorcycle license and buying a Harley. I treasure these experiences and all the people who are part of my journey.
As an only child, my family was fortunate to have the means to travel frequently throughout the continental United States. I learned to value the freedom of hopping in the car and following the road wherever it may lead. As a Gen X’er, these were typically long car rides playing the license plate game and flipping the pages of the AAA TripTik until we reached our destination. This is the genesis of my love for exploring new places, but the travel bug bit me hard and deep in 1998 when I traveled to Kenya and Tanzania with my mom. Besides Canada, it was the first time I had been outside of the United States and it opened a whole new world for me. The exposure to cultures completely different from the one I had experienced in the prior 25 years had a profound and lasting impact on how I viewed the world and my fellow world citizens. It was somehow both humbling and exhilarating and I have spent the years since that trip chasing the high that only adventure travel can provide.
That said, the greatest and most rewarding adventure of my life has been raising my two wonderful kids. Life with them is the one thing that brings me more joy than my travel adventures. I am continuously amazed how both of my wee ones have matured into independent, confident young adults (and my favorite travel partners). I would not be the person that I am without the experiences we have shared together. My life would have been far less interesting and you will see Patrick and Cadi throughout this website. They feed my soul.

“To me, that is beauty. Not the gleam of prefabricated perfection, but the road-worn beauty of individuality, time, and wisdom.”
